• don’t take pictures of a red drink on a cherry wood coloured table
• inside photography of small objects takes a hell of a lot of light
• it looks like the glass is leaning
• use an aperture of probably at least 4 to get the back end of the glass in focus too

I had some issues with setting the white balance right, because of all the red in there. The white in the background isn’t completely white, so I couldn’t use that for white balance.

For extra lighting I used a very powerful light I have in my living room, but that wasn’t enough. I might have to invest in some serious lights. A good picture inside takes a hell of a lot of light.

I didn’t set the whole arrangement up very carefully, so I feel the picture is a bit slanted. I fixed it, but I don’t feel good enough.

I didn’t want to use an ISO higher than 200 to avoid noise, so I had to open up the aperture quite far, making the back part of the glass out of focus. I definitely need more light.

Here’s a little picture of Alkmaar. I like taking pictures in cities after dark. It’s an easy score though as these pictures generally have quite a bit of atmosphere. Click the title of this blog entry to see this photo with a bigger size. It was taken handheld.

Haven’t had the time to read the reviews myself, but Engadget doesn’t mention the problem Canon acknowledges. On some pictures there are black spots to the right of bright spots…

Anyway it’s supposed to be a brilliant camera. Let me once more link to Vincent Laforet’s film he made with the new 5D. Just look at the quality of the movie, not the story. It’s brilliant, in full HD!
