News about drive issues

February 25th, 2010 by Wenslauw

A short while ago I started having issues with the third bay in my Synology DS408, after already having had too many issues with bay 2. The bay was empty according to the NAS. Two bays with issues, about time to look for help. I posted a few lines on the Synology forum and the same day someone told me to send in a kernel log.

I did this and a day later I got a mail. The support guys at Synology think it’s an issue with the SATA cables. This seemed improbable to me as it would mean that I have two broken SATA cables. But after googling the issue I must say Synology could be right.

Lets hope the replacement cables come soon. Then we can see if they fix the problems.
